An experimental research station started by the United Fruit Company to evaluate the feasibility of agricultural crops in tropical climates. It is probably the largest experimental botanical garden in Latin America with a vast collection of plant species and a interesting history. Local guides available in the visitor center for a walking tour. members of a nearby village produce and bottle preserves and liquors from the gardens fruits, available for tastings and purchase.
Nature & Environment
If you are interested in nature photography or bird-watching this is a great spot. Extensive trail system, and a large and diverse plant collection. There are also many secluded spots to catch up on a good book.
Overnight stays can be arranged at the visitor center, in a set of cabins located a few meters away. If you are interested in nature photography or birding it's worth the stay to walk the trails early before gates open to the public.
